I remember I went Christmas shopping with my father at a jewelry store, and he bought my mother a necklace and matching earrings. When the clerk was wrapping the gifts she asked if he wanted them in separate bags. He said "No, they're for the same wife."
Had something similar happen to me. I sent flowers to a girl I was dating for her birthday, she'd recently gotten out of a relationship and the other guy also sent her flowers. Unbeknownst to me I used the same florist who said "I'm going to have to make the delivery myself to see why this girl is getting so many flowers."
She told me after the delivery that he DID come in and deliver the flowers himself "to see what all the fuss was about."
You’re fucking your wife’s aunt? Damn!
Things get fucky on Valentine's Day when it comes to flowers. I used to deliver them part time to make ends meet. It was a good gig that day and Mother's Day.
But I never will forget the time I delivered a dozen long stemmed roses...easily $85-$100 probably not including delivery charge...to a high school. I walk in and ask for the name expecting the principal or a teacher. No. They page this fucking 11th grader. She was flabbergasted, and here I was wondering what kind of 11th grade kid could afford to do this when I was doing it just to put extra food on my table.
Lady at the supermarket gave me the most judging when I bought my 2 valentines some flowers... ( my mom and grandma )
"And by the way some dude sent your wife some flowers last weekend"
Not quite the same but my brother has struggled with mental health problems for quite a few years now and went missing for a few weeks and we could not track him down. We had given up when we got a random call from a bank manager who had overheard my brother talking to a teller. My brother was dressed oddly and in a manic state so he sort of broke protocol and looked up my brother's contact info in his account to reach the house and we were able to pick him up and get him looked after properly. That's now the main branch that I bank out of.
