19 spanish1nquisition As somebody who lives here: It's not really as easy as it looks. While the mountains are really beautiful, it's really hard to find anything "untouched" by humans. People have been living in the mountains since the medieval times and every horizontal surface has been cultivated in some way, be it cows, firewood forests or more modern things like power lines, cable cars or highways. When you see a beautiful landscape picture you have to keep in mind that probably there is a high voltage power line just outside the frame (although not in this picture). Of course there are still a lot of pretty wild valleys, but you will almost never truly leave civilisation when in the mountains (which doesn't mean the mountains aren't dangerous and magnificent).
14 greenland96 It's the Eiger.
7 Ember778 Yosemite is the same way it seems.
6 Snetiac Agreed. Everything is beautiful!
3 tomisurf Fun fact: there's a train tunnel up the inside of the Eiger. It has a stop half way up with a set of windows that look out from halfway up the face of the mountain!
2 hombredeoso92 Having just come back from Slovenia with a similar view and a bunch of photos that don't do it justice, I feel like this view must be *incredible* in person because the photo is incredible in and of itself.
2 eutohkgtorsatoca Seeing pics like these and being from the Alps makes me wonder why the big difference with the Rockies in BC Canada. They don't have these pretty green open spaces. The trees seem to grow way closer to the rocky areas. What's the explanation?
4 supersten12 Hey, I've climbed that mountain! Not the one to the left. That one is hard... But the one to the right! That one is easy-ish!
1 majorinbirdlaw Here now, can confirm, it's amazing. Leaving tomorrow :-(
1 asdfer1235 The little train up Jungfraujoch goes by a couple of cute little towns! It's pretty beautiful but they must hate us tourists lol.
1 cleepboywonder My minor dyslexia made Junfrau, unfair... which I totally agree with. I guess we see what we want.
1 MrTwitch300 I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee..
1 Bendit_1942 Beautiful photo. Sadly, it looks like the first and second ice fields on the Eiger north face have disappeared... Climate change. 90% of Switzerland's incredible glaciers are meant to disappear by 2100.
