Imagineering is pretty broad department at WDW. There's everything from artistic roles to architecture and mechanical engineering of the rides. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to jobs in maintenance as I'm unsure if those fall directly in their department. (I don't work directly in Imagineering, but another analytical dept.) There are a lot of jobs within the company for that!
The first time I had been to WDW was in college as I could never afford it, so a big part that I love about my job is trying to make the little things about a visit to the parks as smooth as possible for the guests that only come once in their life. (Also, having an office inside the park is pretty cool too!)
I have a friend from college who graduated and took a job at Disney as an imagineer.
Her undergrad studies were in Industrial Engineering.
Her work involved a lot of statistics and math - think about reducing line queues, trying to spread visitors at the park throughout the park etc.
Her gig wasn’t a maintenance job, required a college degree, but she wasn’t confined to a cubicle. I know she spent a lot of time in the park as part of her job.
