>The actress who played Kes on “Star Trek: Voyager” is again facing criminal charges.
>Jennifer Ann Lien was arrested last month for DUI and simple assault. She allegedly spat on Roane County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Wes Stooksbury during the incident.
>According to the warrant, Stooksbury spotted Lien driving erratically on Hwy. 70 in a gold Buick.
>“The vehicle turned onto Old Hwy. 70 and as I was about to stop the vehicle it turned into a driveway and stopped,” the warrant said. “I did make contact with the driver, Jennifer Lien.”
>Stooksbury said he asked Lien if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages or any medication.
>“I did detect an odor on her person believed to be associated with an alcoholic beverage,” the warrant said. “I asked again if she had been drinking and she stated she was drunk.”
>Stooksbury said Lien refused to perform field sobriety tests or take a blood test.
>“She became very uncooperative and began yelling,” the warrant said. “I opened the car door to take her into custody, and she locked her hands with her fingers behind her back. I had to force her hands apart to handcuff her.”
>Stooksbury said Lien spat on him as he and another deputy were escorting her to his patrol car.
>“We placed her into the back of my patrol car and put her seat belt on,” the warrant said. “She continued to spit in the back of my patrol car while in transport. She was taken to the Roane County Detention Facility. She repeatedly asked to be killed.”
>This isn’t Lien’s first time facing criminal charges in Roane County. She faced charges for separate incidents in 2015.
>In the spring of that year she was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault following a police pursuit.
>According to court records, she refused to stop for Harriman officers and damaged some patrol cars while attempting to flee.
>Lien was charged with indecent exposure in the summer of 2015 for allegedly exposing her breast and buttocks in front of children.
>The charges were dismissed in the fall of 2016. She paid $2,291.85 in restitution to the Harriman Police Department and stayed out of trouble. Those things were taken into consideration when authorities decided to dismiss the charges.
>“She had paid restitution in full to Harriman PD and had complied for six months or more without any further problems, and is supposedly doing well,” District Attorney General Russell Johnson said, following the dismissal in 2016.
>Lien, 43, is scheduled to appear in Roane County General Sessions Court next month on the new charges. Public Defender Kim Nelson declined to comment on the case.
