I can't open the first link, but the second link has a citation in which I could not find any information about ring-shaped pupils. I have never heard of such a thing and if you read the paper that is cited, it talks about ring-like structures with respect to focus, but the pupil itself is actually round. That wiki sentence is just incorrect.
Many catfish species actually have what is sometimes called an [omega iris](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loricariidae#Description_and_biology
) which describes the fact that the pupil constricts to a crescent-like shape.
