I’m sympathetic to the posters argument, and Elon always seems to operate his companies on insanely thin margins. However, the poster doesn’t actually give any real cost numbers to back up their claims, which greatly diminishes theur argument. They give some numbers but they are only giving a partial picture of true cost.
The 3 posts other than mine all insult this OP without providing any substance.
Polarizing topic! Fanatics of both sides fight for the prestige of /r/bestof !
This is hardly best of it doesn't see the woods from the trees.
These rockets aren't super important for what they are now bit for the possibilities they open up. Yes the hype is crazy but one needs to look ahead. The falcon rockets can only get cheaper reusability more reliable. As the poster points out the second stage is low tech it's quite unimpressive as of now.
From now on launch costs will fall every year. That's why they matter.
What the actual fuck is going on here? Can we really just scream eleven thousand fucking words in spider language into the void, then sock puppet our way into a bestof post? How can I get in on this?
Also, get help. Your math and logic are nonsense. The usual rule of thumb is, if you as some random guy can come up with an argument that "destroys" the work of thousands of people who do this for a living, and have spent their entire adult lives focused on it, then you are either wildly wrong or stuck on something trivial that they demonstrate in the first day of Intro To Rockets 101.
