I once read a quote (allegedly by Bismarck):
*The Americans are truly a lucky people. They are bordered to the north and south by weak neighbors and to the east and west by fish*
And I think that pretty much explains it
Of the 7.5 billion people on earth, we’re separated from 6.5 billion of them (~85%) by two massive oceans.
And, as maybe-Bismarck said, there has never been a country in the Americas remotely capable of challenging our political and economic superiority.
We’ve always had the luxury of looking inwards, while everyone else had to learn dozens of painful lessons about why maintaining international peace and stability is so important.
World’s changing, though. Here’s hoping we can change with it.
