9111 TooShiftyForYou *Schwarzenegger: “True. I read the script. It was so bad. You know, I’ve also done some movies that went right in the toilet, right? That were bad. But this was really bad. So I went in – this was during our war – I said to myself, I’m going to leak out that I have tremendous interest. I know the way it works in Hollywood. I would then ask for a lot of money. So then they’d say, ‘Let’s go give it to Sly. Maybe we can get him for cheaper.’ So they told Sly, ‘Schwarzenegger’s interested. Here’s the press clippings. He’s talked about that. If you want to grab that one away from him, that is available.’ And he went for it! He totally went for it. A week later, I heard about it, ‘Sly is signing now to do this movie.’ And I said, [pumps fist] ‘Yes!'”* It's not a rumor!

91 Troelski This makes so much sense. This is essentially what launched the screenwriter's a screenwriting guru. This and then Blank Cheque. Blake Snyder - the writer - wrote the widely read and referenced screenwriting book "Save The Cat" which includes such great insights as "something cool MUST happen on page 17 of your script. not 18. Not 16. 17. Trust me I'm a produced screenwriter." He also repeatedly dragged Memento in the book while extolling the amazing screenplay of Legally Blonde. The name of the book comes from a revelation Snyder had that audiences will like your main character better if they they see them do something nice in the beginning of the film. Such as save a cat. A generation of would-be screenwriters listened to this guy. Because of an Arnold troll move...
72 Ersthelfer Maybe anot a good movie but it made 70 million and cost 45 million. So not really a commercial flop.!_Or_My_Mom_Will_Shoot edit: Guys, I know they probably made little money with that movie, even when you add VHS, TV earnings, etc. to it. But when I read "commercial flop" I'd still expect something like Hudson Hawk and not a movie that maybe produces a small minus.
