Hell, that's what my electricity costs and I'm on hydro.
Energy Systems Engineer here! This is indeed great news, unfortunately the economy of the power generation itself is not at all the hurdle in implementing this type of renewable. The problem is more related to power quality, storage (or demand, depending on how you look at it), and integration with the power system.
All it takes a little divestment there, a little investment here. Oil was $$ as heck to extract* before new technologies were developed for it too.
I've been looking into buying solar panels for my house, and I can't for the life of me find panels anywhere near that cost for sale. :( Any legit links to vendors/distributors/sellers would be much appreciated.
EDIT: I currently live in the U.S., but the house I am building is in south-east Europe. So, I'm looking to just buy panels (a crate-load, enough for a home) and just ship them there myself.
If anyone knows where I can purchase individual panels (for the advertised 6c/kwh), that would be awesome.
This is for utility scale solar, residential solar on rooves(roofs?) is at least double that still.
