6729 CletusVanDamnit Millennials =/= kids.
1804 witsendd I get that your title is a joke, but millennials are actually some of the [highest users of libraries](http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/06/21/millennials-are-the-most-likely-generation-of-americans-to-use-public-libraries/)
1911 uniqueUsername_1024 Also, the murdered person's argument is stupid. I could just as easily tell them that if they want to get from Point A to Point B, they should take a covered wagon and only what they can carry in it, eat rations, and not have any Internet connection and WORK for getting someplace for once. Technological advancements don't make the people that use them stupider. In fact, refusing to give up old methods because you hold stereotypes about using new technology to improve your life is arguably the stupider option.
601 SeattleBattles Stupid kids not doing things the hard way just because.
253 Aelle1209 Librarian here. Do you know what we have in libraries that get used for research? Computers. And we help you use them, too! In fact, modern technology has become such a boon to the world of information gathering that libraries--as public centers dedicated to providing information--have transformed to make these technologies more accessible. Many libraries have computer labs and makerspaces. There's so much irony in someone saying "stop using technology to get your information and go to the library instead," when librarians know full well how powerful these tools are and make use of them accordingly.
347 Shall_not_infringe That's not a very strong argument. His main points were eight MLB players and Michael Phelps. How do those things make them smarter? That's purely physical ability.
120 NoMoreNicksLeft "Kids are not smarter than ever" murdered by "more Olympic world records"? And the comment doesn't use proper punctuation or capitalization. Hell, I'm pretty sure that the athletic stuff pretty much means the per capita rates have stayed more or less constant... eight 100mph pitchers when there are 8 billion people vs how many fewer when there were only 3 billion?
259 jef_snow I don't think anything can kill public libraries. They've been anachronisms since they came into being. All of their models are outdated and archaic. It doesn't matter though because the beauty of what goes on inside those buildings will always overcome public cynicism.
