My footwork was like that just trying to stand up straight on the bloody things three weeks ago.
Seriously, thanks for this. I'm showing my kids this video and asking them why they can't do anything close to what she is doing after they were making fun of my attempt the other week.
Terrible! She missed every one of them!
I can barely walk straight and she's over here doing magic with roller blades
as someone who can't commit to long-term hobbies, i think i will buy some roller skates
She has a Jet Set Radio Future vibe.
I mean what the fuck are ankles anyway, right?
this competition (world roller games 2017) was particularly insane because the 1st place seniors men and womens were among the top placing juniors last year.
the senior women's top 2 frequently interchanged rankings in past major competitions but ended up with 2nd and 3rd place - upsurged by Feng Hui.
the senior men's were even more incredible because the eventual champion was the clear 1st place junior for the past 4-5 years (undefeated) who was now competing in another bracket. the bloke who was meant to be the top here completely dominated the scene and never achieved anything less than a 1st place in all major competitions for the last 3-4 years .
in addition, this comp was also marred by controversy for this discipline, as the organizers for this event were extremely rushed. for the 1st few days training was done on a wooden floor that was built outside the main stadium (very poor judgement), however Nanjing is humid and frequently rained, so the moisture built up on the floor and it was practically unusable by most competitors (some got used to it towards the end).
towards the end of practice days, the organizers decided to move the competition to the concrete pavement behind the official terrible wooden floor leaving only certain countries the opportunity to fully get used to this new surface. furthermore, the concrete surface had small dimples and cracks that skaters wouldn't have known unless they had time to fully practice on it - this resulted in falls and stumbles for many competitors, but was particularly tragic for the 8th place senior men who was previously undefeated in major competitions only to fall down 3 times in his classic.

as an ice skater, i could never get good at inline skating because on the ice you stop by turning your feet sideways and basically pushing the ice/snow with your feet until you stop....in rollerblades you'd do that and just faceplant. if i ever needed to stop skating on rollerblades there better be some grass nearby
