This is one of my favorite trees ever. I tried to grow some from seed, they never germinated, possibly due to my inadequate stratification.
The baobab (pronounced bay-oh-bab) tree produces a fruits thought to have some medical properties, what's certain is elephants love them. In fact, their germination (growing) requires digestion, landing in a steamy pile of ~~elephant dung~~ *fertilizer!* Elephants are also known to use these trees as a [woody oasis when scavenging water.]( http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2016/04/05/baobab-trees-attacked-by-giant-mammal/
) Their massive girth is conducive to a desert like, hot climate, as they store moisture from the monsoon season on their trunk. In fact, when growing as an owner, you MUST NOT water them in winter.
