TIL that Brad Pitt once tried to buy himself out of the movie ‘Interview with the Vampire’. Upon hearing about the 40M$ exit clause, he shot the movie. It went on to receive 2 Oscar nominations and launched Kirsten Dunst’s career

234 thxxx1337 I thought I'd never see this again.
139 michellelabelle This goes back waaaaaaaay further than XP. Windows 95 at least, and probably 3.1. I was in a computer lab in college in the 90s, after class hours. Some dude was up in front at the "instructor" station and apparently didn't know that his solitaire game was being displayed on the screen to 50 other people. He didn't notice the small round of applause when he won the game, but then one of the cards took a nearly vertical path and took about a minute to clear the screen. The tension built up in the room until it finally bounced all the way off and then everyone went nuts, clapping and cheering, which is when he finally figured it out. He laughed it off, but I know what he was thinking: *Oh my God, five more minutes of solitaire and I'd have switched over to porn.*
83 essenceofoli When I used to play this as a kid, I’d hate the ones with the black edges on. couldn’t stop watching until they’d been covered up!
175 Cheetawolf In Windows 10, it's the same, except ads and prompts for microtransactions bounce across the screen.
37 saranowitz Fun fact: this effect was a bug that everyone thought looked great and so they just kept it in.
