2614 runoverbyahypetrain Assuming NK doesn't immediately reveal what they're up to, what does this mean for the future of their country? Is SK going to do anything or will it be a "I leave you alone and you leave me alone" deal?
4405 PiezoelectricMammal In 10 years' time we'll know the real reasons North Korea is mellowing out (if indeed they are).
80 needSleep4AM I’ll believe it when I’ll see it. It’s not like the people who have been systematically imprisoned in concentration camps are suddenly freed and happy. What will become of all the officials and Kim Jong Un when even more shit is revealed about them?
Nonsense. Unless the Supreme Leader just decided he just couldn’t live without K-pop any longer, this is probably not going to happen.
2260 Trevorghost I'll believe it when I see it. More than likely this is another attempt by North Korea to offer peace as long as that peace also means the US leaves and South Korea acknowledges North Korea as the rightful government.
I mean forgive me for not buying into the whole "Peace at last :D" mentality.
But when North Korea demanded dozens of concessions just to participate in the Olympics I doubt they're now ready to embrace peace unless that peace comes with a healthy serving of benefits and strategic gains for the NK side.
245 businessphil This is a negotiating tactic to say the United States is no longer needed in the Korean Peninsula. China might be pushing for this as well.
The same war readiness will be kept or slightly degraded but it’s a long term play for Korea control
917 skinnergy This is what the crazy leader of North Korea does. He acts reasonable for a while in order to win some concessions and then goes back to his old ways again. Color me dubious.
