I live in Florida and lost power during Hurricane Irma. People here were going bat shit crazy when the power was out for a week. I can't even imagine going months without power.
Damn that’s uplifting news but very depressing that it took this long.
It's important to note that Puerto Nuevo (where the school is) is probably one of the most known about avenues in the area of San Juan. The private school had to use power plants to make sure the staff could use their network and even now, the power isn't strong enough to turn on ACs school-wide. That and the fact that the avenue still doesn't have power as a whole (meaning that the traffic lights are rarely on) is a testament to how bad things are here.
Source: I went there and pass by occasionally.
Some people just want to watch the world learn
The power came back to my gf's house on Christmas day and we celebrated it more than New Year's. Her kids returned to school just last week. It has been a long journey...
I feel kind of like an asshole that as a kid I would cheer when the power went out.
Happy for the Puerto Rican students
Man, I still don’t have power or running water or even cellphone reception in my house. It’s gonna take probably a couple more months for my neighborhood.
Can we talk about how that school looks like a converted prison?
