545 _Hopped_ I too want Facebook to destroy its credibility in the eyes of its ad customers.
221 biohazard930 > “Facebook was secretly paid to host illegal political ads as part of an illegal foreign influence effort." And literally the next line in the article, from the same letter: > “We are not aware of any federal law that would prohibit Facebook from making these ads public,”
198 sonofaresiii This article is a mess. It keeps switching between Facebook secretly being paid, or Facebook being paid by secret sources, or Facebook being paid by sources that were secretly Russian. It's like it's trying REALLY HARD to muddy direct information of what happened. Look guys, in all likelihood Facebook wasn't secretly in league with Russia to intentionally spread misinformation. That's what the article tries to suggest, but it's not really what the article SAYS. Facebook identified that the sources were Russian, and turned that information over to authorities. They're not going to release it to the public, and they shouldn't. People are always complaining about Facebook collecting data, now we're mad that they WON'T release that data to the public? They released it to whom they were required to release it, beyond that it's private information that their own policies-- the ones that protect me and you-- won't allow them to release. It's important they stick to their privacy policy otherwise it's meaningless. The authorities have this information.
