And just to think that 10 year old me tried to get the camera angle just right to check out the 1998 versions ass.

imagine what another 20 years could do. Maybe they finally perfect hair physics.
It’s insane what 20 years of video game graphics come to
But Rise of the Tomb Raider came out in 2015 not 2018. :D
The face on the right half is the 2013 Lara Croft, not the 2018 (or 2016) one. The 2018 Lara Croft has not come out yet. "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" will release later this year.
I assume the OP intended to make the comparison to the **2016** Lara Croft from "Rise of the Tomb Raider", but he mistakenly used the Lara Croft from the 2013 "Tomb Raider", (i.e., the first game in the rebooted series.) Here is the 2013 Lara Croft (from "Tomb Raider") vs the 2016 Lara Croft ("Rise of the Tomb Raider"):
And here is a video comparison of *all* different versions of Lara Croft from 1996 to 2016 - the biggest leap in graphics happened between the 2000 and 2006, in the 2003 "The Angel of Darkness", (and Lara's boobs have been getting smaller and smaller since the 2003 game):
We will find out later this year how much the 2018 Lara Croft will improved from the 2016 Lara Croft.
Despite how bad the graphics looked, games were just as great in 1998.
Your mind filled in the blanks with bad graphics. And my memories of all of the games I played back in those days are full of 4k clarity. I don't remember the old Tomb Raiders looking bad. They were way too captivating and fun. I recall them as if they had spectacular graphics. I recall swimming in detailed shipwrecks, scouting dusty pyramids, and running from the towering T-Rex as it kicked up gravel with every footfall.
