84 CephalopodRed Love that The Handmaiden won.
92 [deleted] Very happy for Del Toro, the man just seems so genuine and into his work. Hope this gives a big boost to his Oscar chances. Hilarious to think Konami could have possibly had a game out with an academy award winning director attached.
48 MisterManatee Shame that Dunkirk didn’t get any BAFTAs. If it can’t win over the Brits, I don’t think it has much chance at the Oscars.
125 killertapir I love Three Billboards a lot, But I still think Willem Dafoe deserved Supporting Actor over Sam Rockwell.
27 ObviousTryHard Looks like it's down to Three Billboards and Shape of Water for Best Picture at the Oscars. And because Three Billboards isn't nominated for Best Director, I'm gonna say that Shape of Water will win the top prize.
124 TiberiusHecktor Maybe im just fangirling but i _really_ think call me by your name deserved more
50 CheesewayBreezeway I hope this doesn't sound too cranky, but... Can anyone explain to me why Allison Janey is winning everything? Her performance was fine, but I don't really understand why she's sweeping like she is. Her character this year is entertaining, sure, but it doesn't seem like a very challenging role for her. She's played similar characters before and her lines in I Tonya just seemed like canned 1-liners that are right up her alley more than they seem to be actually demanding of her as an actor. She's only given like 1 tiny moment of semi-vulnerability in the movie, and the rest is basically comic relief (of a very dark nature). It's not a bad performance, but even just compared to the other supporting actress withholding mother role in Laurie Metcalf, it's not even close to the nuance and layers that Metcalf does in Lady Bird. Even Leslie Manville's role this year seems far more deserving. Anyone have any thoughts?
