It is coming up on the 50 anniversary of my first viewing of 2001: A Space Odyssey in early April 1968, at the Warner Cinerama Theatre (70mm) in Hollywood, before the famous 17 minutes were cut. That was an experience. It is amazing that after all this time 2001 still provokes discussion and study; truly an influential film. Hopefully someone will consider a releasing a new 4K version from the original 70mm print. Still this is one film that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible; far more epic and mesmerizing than on TV.
I did a double-take looking at that third picture, thinking Kubrick had a laptop for a second. But it's a briefcase... which I guess would have more or less served the same purpose.
