50 radome9 That's longer than some murderers and child rapists get. At some point we'll realise that longer sentences won't solve the opioid epidemic.
25 realSatanAMA This is definitely going to convince his customers to not do heroin anymore.
17 ThisWormWillTurn He picked a jury trial rather than take a plea deal that would have gotten him 10 years or so. That was an ufortunate choice.
5 TheGrouchyPoopStain That is absolute bullshit. Fuck the government and there fake war on drugs. It is a war on the citizens of this country.
3 unitsofwhat Its not our shitty prison system thats responsible for re-conviction rates (its a huge problem but its not responsible) What needs to change is the publics opinion of criminals. You were in jail? Doesn't matter what it was for, who you hurt or didn't hurt, or how long you were there. You are now a lesser person in the eyes of society and getting anything - a job, relationship, loan, is extremely difficult. We sentence our criminals to 5 years in jail and a lifetime of stigma. Do the crime, do the time, and then wipe the record clean. If we really thought we needed to tell people who the convicts are because they might be bad people, why do we let them out to begin with?
2 Willard2566 That's the spirit. Keep doing something that has proven not only to be ineffective in combating addiction and the illicit drug trade, but in fact contributes to it. Not only that, but has escalated the violence around drugs in this country. He would have gotten less time if he'd killed his girlfriend in a passionate rage.
5 confusedtopher that lipstick is way too bright for the rest of his look.
3 Hav3_Y0u_M3t_T3d Good. Let him rot in prison. Too bad theres probably already someone thats taken his place on the street.
1 Dustin65 He would have gotten less time than that for being a child rapist
1 BatMally Opioid manufacturers get subsidies.
1 [deleted] Meanwhile in another thread just above this a murderer gets 25 years. Never change US justice system...
