630 totalarkwar Jemele Hill was suspended in 2008 for comparing rooting for the Boston Celtics to defending Hitler: >"rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/31219-fool-me-onceespn-suspends-jemele-hill In 2009 she suggested Packers fans should throw batteries at Brett Favre: >"Listen to me, okay? If you have a shred of pride you will give Brett Favre the Duracell treatment when he comes to Lambeau Field." http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2009/08/68497458/1#.Wbk_mrKGMuU Then later that year she had to apologize for comparing John Calipari to Charles Manson: http://deadspin.com/5431267/jemele-hill-apologizes-for-her-mouth-again How the fuck did she survive the ESPN purge?
153 dontlikepills I don't particularly care one way or another, but I'm surprised ESPN hasn't acted faster because their brand is already pretty shitty.
82 bardwick Remember when ESPN covered sports? Pepperidge farms remember...
47 keepitwithmine I would honestly rather listen to MSNBC radio than ESPN at this point. Probably less political and more sports. I used to basically only listen to ESPN XM, but couldn't take being told how terrible white men have been/are/will be. Rachel Maddow has more nuance. Bomani Jones talks a lot about race, but seems to have a greater understanding about other views and I don't necessarily mind it although it can get tiring. Clinton Yates is ridiculous though.
11 johnazoidberg- They're only upset because she said something that had nothing to do with the Yankees
40 ArminscopyofSwank Right now on CNN they have the Vice-Mayor of Charlottesville saying that "Queen" Jemele, his words, was absolutely correct. BLM Toronto called Justin Trudeau a White Supremacist, so I'm not sure those words have any weight anymore.
214 [deleted] Keep in mind, ESPN also removed an Asian sportscaster from a game because his name was Robert Lee.
