Anecdotally speaking, I was an IVF baby. I was one of the first 5 in my state, now over 30 years ago. My parents tried for 9 years to have me, before this technique became available. I am developmentally normal, and am now a neurosurgeon. I would like to thank fertility researchers then and now for fighting in the face of protesters and against public opinion that what they were doing was subverting some natural order. Fortunately, I think that public opinion on IVF has calmed down somewhat since the 1970s-80s.
