"HE BOUGHT WHAT NOW?"
-Some HBO executive every week.
Once that blockbuster owner gets that Russell Crowe stuff, there needs to be an AMA.
I love the mental image of John and his staff, on their laptops at 4am, bidding for pointless Russell Crowe shit
Was it just me, or did that opera sound like it was part of a crooked villain's theme song from an old-timey Disney musical?
Remember when Paul Ryan bragged about a secretary's 78$ pay increase due to the "tax reform"? That's how outta touch this bill was. Reportedly, top 1% stand to make 50000$ min every year from this bill.
This show has slowly turned into the "John Oliver Buys Weird Shit" show and I am HERE for it.
It's also a Rules for Rulers thing. To keep the company in one piece, you have to satisfy the board and major shareholders, and they will raise hell if they don't get money. And they want ALL OF THE MONEY, no convincing them otherwise, or else they'll cut out and find someone else that pays them money.
The worst part of this moronic tax plan is that it's effectively killed any chance for proper reform of the current system. After all, the old system was a messy hodgepodge where the nominal rate is set too high, and deductions and tax havens have made the actual rate dependant on the company and what they do. Meanwhile some of those deductions have an adverse effect on productivity, encouraging some sectors of the economy, while harming others because politics.
Of course, none of that actually got reformed, what actually happened was a tax plan that basically took the Kansas tax plan, and took it national. Anyone who's been paying attention to Kansas knows just how bad things have gotten there.
