I prefer to let buzzfeed and Facebook questionnaires tell me my personality type, along with which Disney princess I am.
They also made the argument that lung cancer causes smoking.
So if you were a Type A smoker you were screwed either way.
The equivalent these days is that study making the rounds right now about how sitting is so deadly. It's funded by Coca Cola, which has spent millions on studies trying to redirect the focus from the fact that it's sugar that's the likely culprit.
1960s - Companies that make their money selling tobacco fund studies redirecting attention towards "personality traits"
2010s - Companies that make their money selling sugar fund studies redirecting attention towards "inactivity"
This is bullshit, cigarette companies would *never* falsify research.
But when Big Coal and Big Oil tell me that global warming isn't real, that's completely legit, right?
I learned in psychology classes that most of those "types" and classifications can simultaneously ring extremely true and be entirely debunked. Such as extroversion/introversion, Alpha/betas, and even the sexuality spectrum and Kinsey scale. If you believe it, then it's true and can help you in your life, if you feel it's wrong then it can be validly debunked by your own evidence. Psychology is weird...can't wait to get paid absurd sums to perform it.
Relax and mellow out or you'll get lung cancer. Seems obvious.

And I still learned that Type A, Type B shit in High School in 2000.
