I thought it was for the six legs that their cockroach mascots have.
Reminds me of thing $6 Burger at Carl's Jr. They originally called it that because they claimed it was worth $6 even though they were only selling it for $3.99. Last I checked the cheapest $6 Burger on their menu was $6.49.
I'm currently paying $170 a night for a hotel in Orlando for my wife and I while we wait out the power outage from Irma. I wish $6 a night were still a thing...
$6 in 1962 = $48.96 now. Damn it would be nice to get a hotel at that price... it's almost impossible to get a clean, well-maintained room at most motels now for less than $80-90. They used to be about half that in the 1990s. I wonder what's driving up the adjusted price, and if there's collusion going on.
I stayed in the Santa Barbara Motel 6 a few years ago. It was furnished very cool and clean. It is across the street from the ocean, and some of the rooms on the second floor have a view from outside the door!
Mike told me they charge $5 extra to watch the porno flix.
I think they should be required to charge $6 a night forever.
