Not a huge Drag Racing fan, but my Dad is nuts about all kinds of cars. So we went to a couple of these events when I was younger. One of them I met this dude, Cruz Pedragon, and he thought I was lost (I was fairly young) and I said no, my family is close by, I was just looking at the car. And he gave me an autograph and we shared a soda and he was genuinely nice guy.
Never mentioned he wanted to be a pilot, though.
Dude hops out like “holy shit, can’t believe I’m walking away.”
That would have felt about as good as going off an 8’ cliff while riding in a wheelbarrow.
I haven't ever followed the NHRA regularly, but have been tuning in when I see it since the 80s. Cruz is certainly one of the legends of the sport.
I wish my Peugeot could do that..
