The more I hear about Hitler the more I think he may have been a racist.
Oh my god, the anecdote at the end. "Shitty Nazi, can't even Heil properly!"
If anyone is interested here is a story, by the same channel, about a black German growing up in Nazi Germany and serving in the Wehrmacht: https://youtu.be/-sNjAGzPHkA
Wow this is fascinating. "That's when I knew Hitler didn't like me" lol.
I can't believe how clear eyed and intelligent she is at age 84. Is this woman going to blow past 100 laughing and singing? Sure seems like it.
I hope my Mom grows up to be like her :)
*"Racism hasn't stopped, because there's another whole, younger, generation coming to terms with it."*
Good thing to remember.
The channel has another fascinating interview with a black German about his life under Hitler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sNjAGzPHkA
He talks about being part of the "human zoo" ethnological expositions where black people reenacted African village life in exotic dress to showcase "primitive Africans" to the European public.
Also talks about being spared from serving in the war because the authorities couldn't imagine a black person being a German soldier. He was instead declared stateless and stripped of German nationality, simply for being black.
The subtitle pacing was terrible. Whoever did them clearly didn't realize that you need to start a subtitle when people start talking.
This video and the channel in general are fantastic. Will definitely show a few of these videos to my high school classes.
The silver lining is: there are always good people around, don't loose hope!
Typical "Hamburger Deern" (female citizen of Hamburg)!
Now when you think you had a bad time in school, just remember this black girl going to the school where Adolf Hitler is more popular then Justin Bieber.
Omg that was really interesting
