One of Mr. Roger's subtle, yet most powerful statements ever, took place in 1974. He asks 'Officer' Clemons to join him to soak their feet in some pool water on a hot day and then helped him dry his feet. Years earlier many pools were off limits to black Americans.

611 beepborpimajorp Stephen King has always been an oddity in the writing industry and nobody should ever try to compare themselves to him or try to take on his methods. I say this after reading several of his books including the 'On Writing' one he wrote about how he writes. He found success at a very early age and has been a machine since then. That's not bad in any way, but nobody should aspire to that kind of success because it's incredibly unusual. And new writers don't need to put that kind of pressure on themselves, they just need to write.
411 EricTboneJackson This video is an example of why Stephen King writes so many books. Story telling flows out of him like speaking, literally. I remember Carl Sagan being described as a genius who spoke in fully composed paragraphs. King speaks in story arcs. But there's a very important distinction -- and let me preface by saying that King is my favorite living writer; I've read every one of his books, some multiple times -- his books are *nothing* like Martin's, especially in his later years. Their plot elements are *very* broad. Characters are a much more 2D and he has archetypes that he reuses over and over. King carries it with prose, color, pacing, and just sheer descriptive power. He has a gift for painting pictures in your mind, suspending disbelief, foreshadowing, just getting you to turn the page, etc. but he doesn't write the obscenely complex, densely structured plots of Martin. It's not fair to compare them.

1030 Varientstipulations I'd say it's because he actually sits down and writes George. The year break in the show is the perfect time to release the next book every book store in the country would sell out of it and probably the rest of the series too.
657 qualitypi Stephen King, who has the productive capacity to publish a full novel every year(sometimes twice) and thus has better credentials than any fan or internet commentator to criticize or admonish his colleague for failure to deliver: is nothing but empathetic and understanding of the position George Martin is in. Creative writing isn't an assembly line.
