I don't get what is so controversial about sport rivalry?
As an Englishman myself I find this hilarious. Banned?? What happened to that stiff upper lip?
This was not banned, I seen this advert several times in Scotland during the rugby, the title is an outright lie
It wasn't banned, firstly.
The wider advert campaign was more overt, asking people 'what is good about England?' With no responses. It wasn't confined to criticising the team.
The statement from the BBC was that it wasn't hitting 'the right note' in general. Complaints came from people from all over, including some Welsh people who thought it reinforced an English-hating mentality, and reflected badly on them too.
Secondly, it isn't contraversial - but it is biased, negative and against the spirit of competitive sport.
That's against what the BBC itself is about.
It's not what rugby is about, it's a great sport and the fans are some of the most positive welcoming and friendly types you will find.
It was well done as an advert though, amusing.
Edit for clarity.
England is the Dallas Cowboys of Europe then?
SO CONTROVERSIAL IT GOT BANNED!
YOULL NEVER BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
Its like New Zealands motto: I support two teams, New Zealand and who ever is facing Australia.
As an Irishman, i can confirm i always want England to lose the 6 Nations. If Ireland can't win it I'm happy with anyone other than England winning it.
This year Ireland have won the 6 Nations and will lift the trophy in England this weekend.
I grew up in South Africa and Australia. So while I usually want New Zealand to lose, I always want England to lose.
Fuck Johnny Wilkinson and those illegal ~~rucks~~ mauls. You stole that World Cup!!
