For those on /worldnews not following Australian politics. Barnaby has been at the center of several foot-in-mouth episodes as of the past year and a half.
Last year we had a 'Government Crisis' where some Green party members were discovered to have dual citizenship. To be a minister in our Parliament that is not on and it is plainly stated. Those first ministers resigned, and Barnaby was one among those who pointed fingers about integrity.
Then it was discovered he had dual citizenship from New Zealand. So he got kicked out of his seat (but got put back in after renouncing his dual citizenship). So ended the first part.
Then came the SSM debate. Barnaby was against it, and even went as far as to not even vote on the issue by walking out of the chamber during it. Citing he believed in the traditional definition of marriage.
Then, recently, it was discovered he had a mistress in his own staff. One who was now pregnant. Somehow this woman was given a cushy position within his department to top it all. All this while being 'traditionally' married to his wife.
The guy is a cunt, and I mean that in the bad context of the Australian vernacular. If you aren't convinced then watch the interview. He is playing the victim.
Goodbye Barnaby Joyce. Barnaby Joyce, goodbye
Barnaby pulls out too late (again).
Great. Now can we go back to talking actual policy? Or are we going for season 2 of this drama series.
This latest crisis made me realise, Australia hasn't had a stable government in more than ten years.
Good lord, for a second I thought the title said, "Barnaby Jones ..."
His statement about the media not to go after the mistress is fair enough - he is in the public eye and should deal with it, but she shouldn't, as she is a private citizen.
Queue non so subtle Depp comment just when Barnaby thinks it’s gone quiet and it’s all over.
