The article states they were recorded whilst bragging about the murders. If that's true then they are fucked. I'm glad they are fucked.
It wasn't even "killed people" - as bad as that is. They cut up the bodies (including women and children that they killed) and dumped the bodies in the river. That shows a total lack of basic humanity. It's times like this that I hope there's a Greek style afterlife for these people. Maybe a few dozen centuries of being sliced to pieces would teach them a lesson.
I feel like I'm missing some context. Not that context would make this any less horrific, but I'm having trouble even understanding this.
It seems odd for a group of people to commit a random, gruesome murder of women and children and then go on to proudly boast about it. There is usually some deeper hatred behind something like that.
Is there some contention between miners and the Indigenous tribes? Or is there some cultural hatred or looking-down-upon of the tribes by people in that area? Or was this just totally random?
Also, what does uncontacted mean in this context? As in, they have never been contacted by anyone in "modern" society, or that they have, but choose to live traditionally and not communicate with society at large?
is there a copy of the recorded bar conversation, where said people have alleged to murder tribe members.
Will they be charged as adults? Or miners?
I'm old enough now that I'm simply not surprised this is the end these people would come to. This is how it's always done. If there's any outrage it is focused on the individuals directly involved then a few years later the land is developed. Nothing changes sadly.
Who the fuck brags about murderous greed? God I hate this planet.
