Article covering a viral video WITHOUT the link to an actual video..
It was discussed in r/combatfootage when the video was released and as mentioned in other threads that they were non lethal bean bag rounds. It seems standard operating procedure if you're in a convoy as you can't have people frequently driving slow/not getting out of the way or you can get boxed in or ambushed which has happened before. How do they tend to these security concerns? Looks like they have to show force to prevent the behavior
edit: don't rustle your jimmies at this armchair warrior, assholes. Here's what nytimes says
An Army Special Forces soldier who had direct knowledge of the incident said the shooter’s action did not violate protocols.
“Anyone who was there would say that it was within our rules of engagement, and the whole video gives context,” the soldier, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told The New York Times. “It was a vehicle in the American convoy, and we had standard operating procedure with a shotgun carried in our vehicle’s turret loaded with less than lethal rounds.” His statement could not be independently confirmed.
The American military is basically just another terrorist organisation. I would probably be more surprised if it turned out to not be true, at this point.
*"we have probed ourselves and this warrior did nothing wrong"* - followup headline
I saw that video, I just assumed he was shooting at a terrorist
