I understand Eastern Ghouta is an area in Damascus, and that there was and still is constant fighting between the different militias in the area.
Now ELI 5 please, why does Eastern Ghouta matter all of a sudden, and of all places?
The area they are bombing is literally controlled by Al-Qaeda. The Syrian Government and Russians have offered amnesty to the fighters there and has offered to evacuate them to other rebel held area.
Civilians have been given corridors to leave via, and the Syrian Government has dropped leaflets encouraging civilians to leave the areas.
If any other country had an area of their capital occupied by al-qaeda, they would bomb it too. And what the Syrian Government is doing here is no different to what the US did in expelling ISIS from Raqqa and Mosul
I forget people live in war. Fucking terrible.
Some Russian rambos got killed, better start shelling something.
Ah yes the American propaganda machine is back up!
Let's get a poster child on twitter, maybe call her 'Nana'. Then start a 'this is my last message from ~~Aleppo~~ Eastern Ghouta' social media campaign.
Anything else I am missing?
