163 geek66 This "debate" and delay is killing our planet, the frustrating thing is that those that are digging their heels in and stopping change, will only be be suffering with the rest of humanity. Where I wish we could keep a ledger, and somehow hold them accountable for the additional damage this time is costing us.
74 data2dave This started basically with Reagan and Republicans blocking all environmental actions to prevent this and has been going on since. Oil companies deny it, chamber of commerces deny it and Democrats put it towards the bottom of the to do list. The Myth that you have 2 percent plus economic growth every year contributes to it.
20 ginfish What's so jarring to me is that I have some friends who have high studies who still are unconvinced about climate change and they simply won't take the few minutes it would take them to read a few scientific news on the topic. There's still a debate when, in truth, there shouldnt be. Climate change should be the accepted reality, the same way everyone understands water is wet.
52 KirkBuckrogers Where are my climate change deniers? Because this is not supposed to happen in only 100 years. Last time the Artic ice was melted, the oceans were 60 feet greater in elevation and humans did not exist.

9 humblepotatopeeler and yet, this is being mass downvoted.
5 Ogooglebar86 Hypothetically speaking, what would happen if 100% of the ice caps and glaciers around the world melted? Obviously it would be bad, but weren't there times throughout the history of the planet where it was too warm for ice caps to form? I mean wouldn't the earth still be livable, there would just be much higher sea levels and some areas (i.e. Middle East, Africa, India) would be unbearably hot? I guess that would also mean Antarctica would become more livable though.
12 TheBirdOfFire We failed as a species. People love pretending that we are above animals, but what other animal has knowingly caused it's own extinction? we are fucking moronic
